Wedding film
Hi,
I have been trying to improve my skills on FCE & on my XH A1 cam.
Here is my first wedding film with a branch of my Vietnamese family filmed in France:

You comments are really welcome, even the bad one if they are constructive.
Note: Don't pay attention to the photos at the end as I am still waiting for the official one.

Re: Wedding film
I liked what I could see of it. I had internet problems, so I can't say I got the real feeling of it. Nice transitions and music. I editing a wedding video right now myself so it was very interesting for me. I promised myself that I would do any more wedding videos either, but they paid me enough to make it interesting again. The first full day I spent in France I went to a wedding. It was a great time.
I don't have anything constructive for now. If I can get some better band width time later I'll try again.

Re: Wedding film
Thanks!
I tried for the first time to film in 24F so I am happy that it worked.
However there are still things that I don't understand such as resolving the light blinking problem. I often have this problem when filming at night with some lightning and I still haven't find a solution...
The good news is that I build my second dolly and I'll test it on a new edit really soon. Problem is the weather here in France: Snow melting down, grey sky, cold colors...so not the perfect time to film.... just good for B&W pictures.
What war for the battlefield? Rome battle, 100 years war, Napoleon, Arabs war, WW1 or WW2 ?

Re: Wedding film
lol, sorry, I forget France is a war-torn country
WW1 and WW2 I believe. I'm trying to remember, but it was the famous areas (including some Belgian) - Somme, Normandy, Omaha, Versaille and some others I think...
edit - by the way, I meant that in a non-insulting, "can't believe the France's bad luck" way... I know a lot of ignorant/arrogant Americans make fun of the French because Fox news' Bill O'Reilly tells them so. I love France

Hey now. I make fun of France and I am not ignorant and I hope that I don't come across as arrogant. However, I feel more comfortable making fun of Norwegians. That's partly because I'm Norwegian and partially because we're so dense that it's quite comical. Dense people are just funnier than people who have lost a lot of war. I love France and have spent a lot of vacation time there. In America the French have a reputation for being rude, but I speak out against that when ever I can. I was always treated with great sincere hospitality. The really funny thing is that the "France has lost a lot of wars" joke is really on the rest of Europe. France has the most property! How bad is the rest of Europe at negotiating? Now that's funny.

Martin I'm referring more to those Americans on youtube... although having said that, there are plenty of dumbass aussies out there too. So I apologise
That was one of the reasons I went to the USA to visit - to discover the truth about Americans, and guess what time I went? Just after Obama was elected!

Re: Wedding film
You went to WW2 fields. Many American go there to remember someone they lost during the war. The movie Save Private Ryan starts there.
French are definitely arrogant and this is probably why we had many wars there. I guess we like to complain. There is an excellent story to explain that nicely: "When God made the World he decided to give to France a nice weather, mountains, sea, ocean and beautiful nature landscape. But then he realized that he gave too much to France compared to other places that he made. So, in order to make more justice to the World he decided to put the worst people there: the French !"
But as everyone knows, in every country there are nice people and rude people whatever medias can say...
I am going back to watch District 9 again... take care guys!

Re: Wedding film
Private Ryan was filmed in Ireland and on the back lot of a big supermarket in England. So much for France.
Right back to Thomas video.
I could say it was good or it was bad. Thomas with wedding videos there is no point in asking other people of what they think. If you are looking for comments on any other project then yes. Weddings are designed for the customer and if they say yes they like it that is all that matters.
The trouble with some wedding videos. The presentation can and is over done. All you are doing is recording a moment in their time and you have been given the task. Remember you do not have all day to specialise in and arty video work or special camera angles. I guess you know what i'm driving at.
Sometimes it does not pay to be too critical of your settings when filming outdoors unless you are shooting a big budget movie. Mother nature can deceive you at time when you look through you viewfinder.
Anyway Thomas i did like you bit of video. What i like to know, what did the customer think of it?

Re: Wedding film
I love France, just prefer places like Fiesole and Florence... opposed to Paris...
But you're right, every country have the good and the bad. Every time an Aussie talks badly of Americans, I remind them that the majority of australians of my generation act like retards when celebrating Australia Day. They sometimes get the southern cross tattooed on their backs/arms, drink to excess and make racial slurs towards/beat up ethnics.
Every country has their fools.
P.S. District 9 is awesome, I watched it on Blu-ray the other night, awesome

Re: Wedding film
It was not really a customer as it was my first wedding film. I asked my sister in law if I could film her wedding to practice my skills... As she is originally from Vietnam she was surprised when she saw the video. She is not into artistic film: she was expecting a static video: the videocam on a tripod, not moving, recording everything, everything song.... So no edit at all: 6 hours of video like a security videocam
But she is happy at the end because this video was a good surprise.
I'll post you another video next week that I filmed with my dolly.

Re: Wedding film
Thank you for your reply Thomas. I was happy with what i saw and all parties concerned were in the same boat.
As long as you are happy with the end result, that is all that matters.
